Still Life/City Life - 30 Paintings in 30 Days - Day 4

"Let's Cross Over"
Oil on Panel   6 x 6"
It's that time of day that I love to walk in the city, and what's better than The City of Light? It's not dark and it's not daylight, it's that in between light that I love. Dark enough to see the lights come on with a special kind of glow.

Day Eighteen

Socrat
Oil on Linen Panel  8 x 6"
I'm hoping someone from my trip who stayed with me at the Chateau will remember the name of this dog. Please let me know....
Thank you Alison for reminding me of his name. Socrat is short for "Socrates".
He doesn't really look like the old dog that lives there, he ended up looking more like a puppy. Oh well, at least I'm getting a lot of practice with new subject matter by participating in this challenge. I do love to paint interior scenes and I have had some fun with those and learned a lot in the process......
This is the third piece from the same area of the Chateau. I walked in from the back toward the dining room near the kitchen and I looked up the stairs from me to see Socrates, just sitting there bathed in the light from the window. He stayed long enough for me to snap a photo. I think he was just comfortable and didn't want to move, or he likes to have his photo taken...?

Day Three - Yvette's Kitchen

Yvette's Kitchen
Oil on Linen Panel    8 x 6"

I am having fun with this theme, "All Things French". It has taken me back to France last summer to the Chateau we stayed in for the workshop with Ovanes Berberian. Our host's took such good care of us and treated us like their personal guests for two weeks.
One early morning I snapped this picture of the light coming through the kitchen window. It was very inspiring.

Remembering Market Day in Beaune, France

Remembering Market Day in Beaune, France
by Randy Blasquez
Oil on Linen  14x11"
This was a remarkable day from the trip to France last summer. We were caught by surprise when we walked outside our rooms at the local Abbey to see the streets full of vendors. We barely had time to shop because it was almost noon and they were getting ready to pack up. We had slept in while getting acclimated to the time change, took our time with breakfast and almost missed it. I did get a chance to take some photos though.
I feel a series coming on.....
